Marco Pighin (San Vito al Tagliamento, 1973)

Marco Pighin inizia la sua attività di fotodocumentarista alla fine dei Novanta, viaggiando tra Asia e Sud America, dedicandosi soprattutto al reportage sociale. Dal 2003 si interessa ai cambiamenti sociali nei paesi dell'est europeo. Affascinato da quella terra sconfinata, tra Oriente e Occidente, che è la Russia, nel corso dei suoi viaggi ha incontrato la comunità di Vissarion. Sebbene non faccia parte di questo movimento religioso, Pighin è entrato a far parte della comunità/paesaggio, trascorrendo diversi mesi al suo interno.
Nella narrazione fotografica, il fotografo ha il ruolo di riscrivere la trama che gli si dipana davanti agli occhi: prima di tutto individua una sua realtà da fotografare e poi mette in atto l’operazione fotografica. Essere di fronte alla propria realtà, con l’intenzione di raccontarla, fa sì che in qualche modo la macchina fotografica acquisti una funzione escludente, rendendo il fotografo distaccato da ciò che accade, proprio nel momento in cui egli è più presente.

By the end of the Nineties Marco Pighin started his photo-documentary activity travelling between Asia and South America, especially devoting himself to social reportages. Since 2003 he is interested in social changes of the East Europe. Fascinated by that boundless land between the East and the West that is Russia, he met Vissarion's community during his travels. Although he is not a member of that religious movement, Pighin became part of it, spending some time there. During the photographic narration, the photographer has the rule to rewrite the plot that winds up in front of his eyes. First of all he locates his own reality to be pictured, later he performs the photographic operation. Facing his own reality with the intention of reporting it, the photographer makes his camera a device to generate a gap. In the right moment when he is facing that reality, the act of photograph makes him disconnected from what is happening.
