The main event of the 2018 edition of Palinsesti is, as marked by a long-established tradition, represented by an experimental expositive project, which is aimed at analysing an existential and aesthetic theme through the tools of contemporary visual research.
The exhibition that has been set up this year is entitled Notturni (Nocturnes) and consists of two solo exhibitions. in a game of proximities and distances, the project involves two Italian visual artists whose research is internationally known, such as Silvia Mariotti and Maria Elisabetta Novello.
The project is organised into two solo exhibitions which explore the theme of man’s relationship with the universe, which is considered as spatial and temporal infinity, but also as the place of the “unknown”, of spirituality, of the origin of everything, of the possible catastrophe.
In both cases, the paradigms considered are those of the “nocturnal” and of the “sublime”, two aesthetic categories typical of the 19th century European Romantic movement, but are reinterpreted in a contemporary way and in terms that are relevant today, with unexpected and surprising poetical outcomes.
