Palinsesti 2018
Exhibition of Contemporary Art

A Project by Giorgia Gastaldon
With its rich programme of exhibitions and events, the contemporary art exhibition Palinsesti has reached its thirteenth edition in 2018. This year, once again, national and international artists are involved in five different locations.
Notturni - comprised of two solo exhibitions - is set up at the Castello (the old castle of the town) and consists of two exhibition projects, Melancholia by Silvia Mariotti and Atlas by Maria Elisabetta Novello. The latter exhibition is completed by a site-specific installation taking place at the nearby Church of Santa Maria dei Battuti and by a performance produced specifically for Palinsesti, which will take place on scheduled dates during the exhibition.
Moreover, at the Antiche Carceri (the ancient jail of San Vito al Tagliamento) there continues the international initiative of the In Sesto Prize, reaching in 2018 its tenth anniversary. The present edition sees the usual involvement of artists from the territories of the Euroregion Alpe Adria and European regions twinned with the town of San Vito al Tagliamento. Furthermore, the Fondazione Furlan in Pordenone puts on display a monographic exhibition by Mathilde Caylou, the artist who won the 2017 edition of the same prize.
Finally, at the Essicatoio Bozzoli (a former silk cocoon drying room now converted into an exhibition space), the solo exhibition by Paolo Comuzzi, an artist present in the Punto Fermo collection, confirms Palinsesti’s intention to continue its work of surveying contemporary art research in the Region and its enhancement of the permanent heritage of the town of San Vito al Tagliamento.
