Nika Autor (1982)
Con il progetto Artists (2008), Autor realizza visivamente la nozione per cui la nostra vita quotidiana forma la sostanza da cui nasce l’arte, postulando che l’arte è l’atto di vivere la vita quotidiana. In tal modo Autor pone l’arte in un duplice ruolo: quello di rappresentazione e di riflessione. Rappresentazione di un postulato attraverso l’esposizione di fotografie, video, disegni e testimonianze scritte; riflessione attraverso la mediazione del pensiero sull’arte da parte delle persone chiamate dall’artista ad esprimere la loro visione. Il progetto viene costantemente ampliato ed arricchito di nuovi elementi, in maniera tale che esso agisca come un work in progress.
L’intento dell’artista è quello di ottenere un’immagine collettiva del ruolo dell’arte nella contemporaneità. Per Autor l’arte non è una questione istituzionale, nega che essa possa essere compresa solo da chi sta all’interno del meccanismo dell’arte: critici, storici, artisti, galleristi, mercanti e via dicendo. In contrasto con questa posizione, ha basato il progetto Artists su storie che si sono svolte, e che continuano a svolgersi, nella vita quotidiana, conferendo in tale maniera il ruolo di artista alla gente comune e alla coralità delle loro esperienze.
By the project called Artists (2008), Autor visualizes the notion that our own daily life creates the substance that gives birth to art; altogether art is the act of daily living. She considers two roles belonging to art: representation and pondering thought. The representation of an idea is reached through photographs, videos, drawings and writings. The pondering thought is reached through the thoughts on art by the people the artist has called upon to express their vision. This is a work in progress, constantly growing by adding new elements.
Autor’s aim is to reach a collective image about today’s arts role. She thinks that art doesn’t have an institutional role. She doesn’t support the idea that art can be understood only by those directly involved in this field as critics, historians, artists, gallery owners, buyers and so on. Against this attitude she has built the Artists project on what happened and happens in the daily life. She confers the artist’s role to common people and their unanimous experiences.
